Innovation and Modernisation of Locks at Gabčíkovo Dam
The innovation and modernisation of both locks at Gabčíkovo Dam in Slovakia increased the safety and intensity of shipping traffic on the middle section of the Danube. They allow river boats to overcome a height difference of 16 to 23.3 m in about 15 minutes.

Uniqueness of construction project
Metrostav carried out the construction project in accordance with the FIDIC Yellow Book (Design–Build). The upper and lower gates are extremely large. The project was a high-risk construction project from the OHS perspective. At peak times, up to 500 workers were performing demanding work at the same time – at a depth of 35 m below the level of the Danube. Not a single accident occurred during the job!
