Characteristics
The reconstruction, which was carried out under the strict supervision of conservationists, concerned the Renaissance widow’s mansion of the mother of William and Peter of Rosenberg, a former 16th century armoury, a neo-Gothic extension and a malt house from 1882. Careful work preserved the historical character of the buildings, including the Gothic vaulting, Renaissance masonry and wooden beamed ceilings. Without compromising the buildings’ aesthetics, they were equipped with modern technologies.
Project in numbers
- 1 560The year beer was first brewed in Český Krumlov
- 95%of 18th century wooden floors were restored

Uniqueness of construction project
During the reconstruction, which won the Building of the Year 2024 award, the builders had to use natural hydraulic lime instead of conventional cement, as well as special mortars and plasters designed for historical buildings. During their work, they made a number of valuable discoveries – in the palace of Anna von Rogendorf, for example, they uncovered 16th-century figural sgraffito.
