Reconstruction of Synagogue, Žatec
The reconstruction of the devastated Žatec synagogue and the adjacent rabbi's house created a multifunctional space for cultural events. A permanent exhibition focusing on the history of Jews in Žatec was created in the rabbinate.

Characteristics
During the overall reconstruction, both listed buildings made of stone and brick masonry with wooden beam ceilings were stabilised and restored, partly in a restoration mode.

Uniqueness of construction project
The synagogue is located in the Žatec Urban Heritage Reserve, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in the Moorish style in 1872 and almost entirely destroyed on Kristallnacht in 1938. It could be reconstructed thanks to support from the EU IROP grant programme, the rest of the costs were paid by Daniel Černý from his own resources with the support of family, friends and donors from all over the world.
